After almost nine months out of my kart(s) I am back!! This weekend was my first race after having Adilyn. It was 24 days later and not a moment too soon. Friday afternoon we ventured out to the track to get all set up. Papa brought BOTH karts so I could start getting some seat time in the shifter before we go to Grand Junction in a couple weeks. I started out in the TAG 100cc leopard engine kart and had a blast. It is so much more fun than the KT 100 karts we ran last year. By the end of the day my practice times were .5 to 1 second faster than anyone else so I felt ready for my first race. The shifter was an absolute blast to be back in. I have a lot of work to do but being so new at it I felt like I picked it back up pretty well. By the end of the practice day I was 2 seconds off Bonnier and Tyler's times which I thought was pretty awesome since they are both so amazing. I didn't race the shifter this weekend because that would have been a little too ambitious for my first weekend back, but I hope I will be able to start hanging out in the back with the Heavy shifters soon and start picking up speed back there. In the TAG class I started second in the first heat (peapick) and finished first. I started forth in the second heat (reverse peapick) and finished first. The main is determined by your other finishes so I started first and luckily ended first. Sissy was right behind me in second so that was fun and Colby finished in third. I hope this class can grow a little bit more because it's definitely more fun with more racers but we will see.

100cc Supersportsman Tag Podium... That's right, FIRST PLACE after a 9 month break, that's how we do it!
This was Adilyn's first trip out to the racetrack. Obviously as a new mama I was a little hyper sensitive to everything but she did absolutely amazing! She spent the weekend in the motorhome and Nana supervised while mama was on the racetrack. There was a huge motorcycle event out at MMP so the track was extra noisy. I was worried that all the engine sound might bother Baby A but that was a dumb thought since she heard engine noise my entire pregnancy. Even when super loud bikes went by she didn't even react, she hopefully already knows those are just normal sounds she will hear regularly for her whole life. It was a little tricky juggling feeding times with racing times, it seemed like every time she got hungry I was up next for a race, that made for a stressed out mama. We are all still adjusting and learning so it will only get easier (I hope!).

Too funny not to share... Officially a track mama changing diapers in a driving suit!

And a final note, for all my friends who race out at MMP you are probably aware of those itty bitty bugs that like to bite your ears and in your hair. Last season my ear was so swollen I thought it was going to rupture... This year one of those damn little bugs got the corner of my eye. I woke up Sunday morning and looked like I spent the weekend with Rocky. NOT pretty and incredibly painful. Oh my glamorous life.

I lost the battle with that bug.
